Description
The rare thing about Barefoot Bungalow is the privacy. You don't share a pool or the deck. You have the house, pool, yard and deck completely to yourself. Our Bungalow is located on the tranquil island of Vieques. Our three bedroom, 2 bath home is tastefully furnished in a relaxed, comfortable bungalow style. The property offers an array of amenities, including a pool for your use only, a deck overlooking the ocean, BBQ, washer and dryer, hammock and, of course, the beautiful blue sea a few steps from your doorstep. You can hear the crashing waves from your bedroom and still be surrounded by the tranquility of your own yard. Wake up in the morning and sit outside on your private patio, looking out over the waves at the islands of Culebra, Puerto Rico and on a clear day, St. Thomas, while you sip your coffee. Listen to the sounds of the surf breaking in the evening as the sun sets while you stroll in the sand looking for shells and sea glass, or lie peacefully swinging in the hammock.
Lounge by Pool: What can be more luxurious and refreshing than a dip in your own pool after a long day at the beach? Not much. Lounge in the sun, enjoy the lush tropical foliage, and maybe read a good book. Sit under the fountain and let the water splash over you. Watch the sea gulls and pelicans fly overhead and spot the iguana family that comes to feed on the hibiscus and sun on the wall. Take a night time dip and float on your back and gaze up at the stars.
Easy Living: Two of the things that our guests comment on most frequently are the great night's sleep they experience in our comfortable beds, and the luxurious sheets and towels we provide in abundance. We strive hard to make your experience the vacation you want it to be with a fully equipped kitchen (to help you prepare your fresh-caught seafood), air conditioning in all the rooms, and an outside dining area to enjoy the breeze off the ocean.

Perfect find on the beach
We loved our stay on Vieques and this charming house on the beach was perfect. I wanted to hear the sound of the waves and be able to walk along the beach with my coffee each morning. Although the weather wasn't as perfect as we had hoped since we were dealing with tropical storm, Harvey, the house and location couldn't have been better. We spent time in the pool after returning home from exploring the Island; walked on the beach each day and found an amazing collection of sea shells. We fully intend to return to Vieques and we hope this home is available again next year. We have already recommended it to too many friends who saw our photos and wanted to hear more. (Although candidly we hope not too many visit Vieques--as we want it to retain its low-key and uncommercial charm.) The house has everything you need to feel right at home during your island stay. Although we did not cook as wanted to experience the island's restaurants the house is fully-stocked. We hope you find it as relaxing as we did.

Perfect Paradise!
Perfect property. Everything we needed and then some. Beautiful pool which our son enjoyed immensely. Plenty of beach towels, chairs and umbrellas for the whole family. Beach access was amazing, outside patio was perfect for a cup of coffee in the morning and stargazing at night. Comfortable beds and beautifully decorated. We will not hesitate to stay here again. Gail and Michael were the perfect hosts, ensuring we had everything we needed for our stay.

Vieques Vacation in Paradise
My family of 5, including teenagers ages 14,16,18, enjoyed a fabulous week at this house starting after Christmas 2018. This was our first trip to Vieques and we loved the island as well as this house. The 3 bedrooms were small, but perfectly suited to fit all of us. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding was excellent. Tons of bath, pool and beach towels were provided. The air conditioning worked well throughout the house. The living room had a vaulted ceiling and was open to the kitchen and dining area which made the square footage feel much larger than it was. We cooked dinner in about every other night and found the kitchen supplies to be plentiful. There was no dishwasher, but we didn't miss one here. We appreciated the stock of bath soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, tp and paper towels present upon our arrival. The yard area was very private and had a nice hammock. We loved spending time with our coffee each morning sitting on the outdoor area overlooking the beautiful ocean waves. The pool is terrific and clean and not over-chlorinated. We loved this house and Vieques and hope someday to go back! Thank you for sharing your terrific home!

A Perfect Place
This is the perfect place for a vacation. The beaches we went to are all within a 20 minute or so drive. And the beaches were never crowded! We spent lots of time at the pool every day. And coffee in the AM at the table on the patio was a great way to begin each day. Almost every dusk we sat on beach chairs on the beach watching it get dark. The kitchen is well equipped, beds are very comfortable, and the entire house is conducive to relaxing and feeling at home. Aurelio, the manager, was more than helpful, and responsive within minutes of any of our texts with questions, and his suggestions for dining. And meeting us at Maritza's car rental to guide us to the house in the dark on our arrival night got us off to a relaxing start of our vacation.Thank you Michael and Gail for creating a vacation home and experience to remember. Charming Caribbean Cottage on the Beach
We really enjoyed staying at this cottage located right on the beach. The neighborhood is very quiet. You will need a jeep to get here as it is a little far from town but it is no problem driving. The house was clean and well equipped and the beds were comfortable and the pool was very nice. There has been a lot of work done on the landscaping after the hurricane. We grilled lobsters and enjoyed walking on the beach and collecting glass and having wine on the patio in the evening overlooking the ocean. It is a perfect and vey private getaway.

Hidden Gem for couples and family’s
The house was absolutely spectacular! Completely private, with gorgeous views. We were fortunate enough to be able to snorkel on the beach right In front of it. Our girls had so much fun snorkeling and swimming in the pool. We also cooked a lot on the charcoal grill provided. The house had everything you need from towels, to beach chairs, plenty of cooking utensils, and cookware. They even surprised us with a welcome basket with snacks and drink mixes. Mike and Gail truly make a family feel at home in this perfect little beach cottage. We will most definitely be returning ??????????

Fantastic spot for our Vieques adventure.
The barefoot bungalow was everything we could hope for in a headquarters for our family trip to Vieques. A stunning spot that amazed us continually with its beauty. The bungalow is very well equipped. Caretaker Aurelio was extremely helpful.

Heavenly escape from reality!
GREAT house with an amazing view. My husband and I spent 10 days in the cottage with another couple. It had everything we needed. Oodles of towels for bath and beach. Beach chairs, Umbrellas and a nice sized cooler on wheels. We Loved spending each morning with coffee and afternoon with wine on the patio taking in the view and watching the waves. Had restful sleep on comfy beds, falling asleep and waking each morning to the sounds of waves crashing. Very private. Very clean. We bought fresh fish and lobster at the pescadero and grilled on charcoal grill. Would stay again in a heart beat. Don’t hesitate!

Absolutely perfect in every way
This home is well stocked with everything you could think you need for a perfect stay on the island. Lots of towels and blankets and paper goods and beach chairs and umbrellas and a cooler... and the welcome bowl of goodies was fantastic! Aurelio is the best property manager. The beach is 20 steps outside, and since we came to snorkel, it offered amazing views. (Tip: make sure you snorkel out far enough, and then you'll be rewarded.) The pool is perfect for kids who never run out of energy, and the ac and tvs and wi fi worked great. Everything was so lovely. Vieques is a wonderful place to visit.
