Ski Nuts

This is a beautiful chalet home for a large group or family ski vacation. The rooms have huge windows with magnificent views of the slopes. There wasn’t much snow when we were there but they kept the slopes well groomed and filled with snow. The slopes are full of amenities that any skier could ask for. The chalet was very comfortable, cozy, roomy and well lit… especially during the day. There is plenty of room for a large group to eat with the bar in the kitchen, a huge table plus a smaller one… all visible to one another. It is very well stocked with cooking utensils and linens. There are plenty of showers and a large, heated outdoor hot tub. The comfortable beds are heavenly after a day on the slopes! We’d go back in a minute!

Exceptional location right across from the ski slopes. Plenty of room in this very comfortable and large home that provides a perfect setting for a family get-to-gether or group of friends that enjoy shared experiences.

Christmas with Family

With the urging of my daughter and the link to vrbo I researched available snow resorts in SoCal and after lots of comparisons of locations and prices I selected this Chalet. I was not familiar with Big Bear as it's been over 30 years since I've been there and we never spent a night when we went. But, the house seemed to fit the needs of our family of 11 (including 4 teens and a pre-teen) and the owner assured me that we would not need to drive to the slopes so I signed the contract! We had to rent from Friday even though we couldn't be there until Saturday, and that was a little off-putting (paying for a night we couldn't use). That said, the accommodations were incredible; kitchen was well-stocked; linens were clean and layed out for us; sleeping arrangements were great. And we did walk to the slopes less than a 5-minute walk down the back stairs and the lower property driveway and across the street! We realized that no one had to wait for the rest to go back and have a rest or lunch; we didn't have to pack a lunch or pay the prices at the lodge. No chains on cars, no finding a place to park and riding the shuttle, etc. We just said, "Who's ready to go across the street and ski?" And when we were inside, we could watch the skiers, the boarders, the jumps. At night we watched the lighted plowers grooming the slopes and the blowers doing the man-made snow. We did have fresh snow the day after Christmas and that was special. The only hitch was the lack of water pressure in all but one bathroom but the owner has been apprised of it and assured us that he would look into it! He seems to be very hands-on when it comes to the upkeep of the property. We did park 3 cars and a pick-up truck there without any problem. There's a good little area across the upper level street for some fun sledding. I'm thinking of coming back to one of the smaller units in the summer, just for a getaway!

Loved the house! We were literally in front of slopes. Our 7 yr old and 4 yr old could not even enough. . All the rooms comfortable. The house has a wonderful homey feeling. We will definitely going back in the winter.

Couldn't have been more perfect!

Our family of 10 stayed here for 5 days and had an absolute blast! The rustic interior look us just as beautiful as the outside. Was very comfortable for everyone. One family stayed in the downstairs room that had 2 bedrooms and a play are for the kids! Plenty of space in the house to enjoy with everyone and even able to sneak away downstairs to have some privacy. Almost feels like you are in a different house. Simply amazing! The house is steps away from the lifts and all the kids had a great time playing with the snow on the driveway. Our opinion was that the best time to go into the jacuzzi was early in the morning - if you don't hit the slopes. Thanks for the fun experience!

Awesome Location Views

What a birthday getaway treat I had staying at Bear View Chalets' "Glass Castle"! There are so many windows with spectacular views from all three floors. For my large group, there were pleasant accommodations with fire places, a well equipped kitchen, a big deck with a BBQ and with an awesome view of the Big Bear Mountain Ski Resort and Country Club, which are a short walk across the street. After a full day of skiing some of us relaxed in the outdoor spa, or opted for the two indoor Jacuzzi tubs, or just relaxed in the ample seating area in front of the living room's fireplace and the big screen T.V.. We had a blast on our night out on the town, which is a short drive from the Bear View Chalets, and were thankful for plenty of parking available upon our return, and not concern about where to park on our next day of skiing. A great place to return to, definitely!
