Often there is an opportunity to swim with the plentiful spinner dolphins, right in the bay.

A lovely aerie 100 yards from the best snorkeling on the island

Kay is a delight and her fruit-tree-surrounded place is an ideal base of operations for a stay on the Big Island. It's spacious, comfortable, well-stocked, and a three-minute walk from Manini Beach, which has an easy water entry. Swim ten minutes and you're surrounded by dolphins. Kayak fifteen minutes and you're at the Captain Cook monument. Drive fifteen minutes and you're at the Place of Refuge.

Optimal location and kindness at a very reasonable price

This is a traditional Hawaiian compound created by its kind owner, located optimally near snorkelling, whale-watching and dolphin-swimming waters. The property and apartment are clean and well-stocked. You can't go wrong.

Great location for kayaking and snorkling

Can’t ask for a better location for kayaking and snorkling. Only a short walk to the beach and beautiful sunsets. Kay was very helpful and to our surprise she left cereal, juice, and eggs for breakfast. The place was clean and kitchen well equipped.

A lovely property

We had a wonderful time at Kay's property! Very beautiful and quiet location - a very short walk away to the ocean. Nice snorkeling spot. The location is about 15 minute drive to the grocery store. Kay has a few fruit trees on the property along the driveway. She was also very generous with us, allowing us to borrow a beach chair and some boogie boards, as well as sharing fruits and cookies with us. The house is fully furnished with lots of fans and a portable air conditioner to drive away any hot days! Kitchen had essentials like oil, sugar and it was nice to find fruits and eggs in the fridge upon arrival.

Great location.

Kay's place was in a perfect spot for enjoying the nearby snorkeling and kayaking. Easy walk to kayak rentals, and an easy 3-mile drive to great snorkeling at 2-step. We saw spinner dolphins leap right in front of our kayaks on the bay near the Captain Cook monument, and the snorkeling at 2-step was perfect and easy for our first-timer kids. It's not modern, or air conditioned, but it suited all of our needs and Kay was an excellent host.

Great place to stay!

Nicely tucked away from the hustle bustle, but not too far. And the beach really is only a few minutes walking down a quiet road. Snorkeling and canoeing. We cooked breakfast and dinner nearly every day, made easy by a well equipped kitchen. Just stop at Costco on your way from the airport and pick up all your food. Kay is a wonderful lady, and a pleasure to meet! Thank you for your hospitality.

Perfect location! Perfect vacation!

One block away from the best snorkeling on the Big Island! We stayed at Kay's rental apartment for 4 nights, every morning we could pick the delicious star fruits and tangerines from the garden for breakfast, and then walk tot he Kayak rental place down the street and paddle to Captain Cook's monument for some quiet snorkeling before the big tour groups arrive. Being able to beat the crowd in the morning and enjoy captain cook bay snorkeling was priceless. It gets really crowded there after 10am. Another great snorkeling spot, 2 steps, is only 4 miles away. Kay's rental apartment has everything you need for a comfy vacation stay. Chain grocery stores and Walmart are 25 mins away. Far enough to avoid the traffic (yes, there were congested traffic close to Kona) but very convenient. You will not find a better rental at this price range.

perfect place to stay at Manini

We spent two weeks here and were very pleased with the proximity to Manini beach, and also how comfortable and well equipped the place was. Kay was particularly attentive to our needs and we thoroughly enjoyed the homemade cakes she gave us! Would definitely stay again.

Spacious, quiet, walking distance close to captain cook bay

Kay’s apartment is spacious, clean and quiet. It’s proximity to the bay is super! Kay was easy to contact with any questions we had.

perfect location!

Lots of space, quiet ,and Kay stocked the apartment with all sorts of local goodies. Only a short walk to Kealakekua Bay, and only a few minutes drive to Pu'uhonua O Honaunau Nationa Historic Park and Two-Step (for beautiful snorkeling). Great place and we'll definitely rent from her again!
