We spent several days here and we couldn't be happier with the location, the home, or the owner! This was the perfect place for me and my husband and our fur baby. The location is between Cashiers and Highlands, so you have the best of both wonderful communities. The large screened porch and the open deck provided many hours of peacefulness and rest during our stay. The home is very comfortable and well-stocked with everything we needed. Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful place! We will definitely stay here again upon our return to Highlands.
Our time at Pinetops was incredibly memorable! The cabin was perfectly stocked and felt very much like home. It was close to so many attractions that we were able to check out. Our family has thoroughly enjoyed our vacation in Highlands and we hope to return very soon!
This sweet little cabin was a perfect place for my family to find a "change of quaranscenery" and some peace of mind in the North Carolina mountains. Although we are NC residents, we had never ventured to the Highlands area, but were drawn there because of the vast amount of outdoor activities, hikes, waterfalls, and other adventures. Pinetops put us within reach of ALL of Mama Nature's goodness and provided a place of comfort for our family of 4 (including two teenaged girls and a goldendoodle). Each bedroom has its own bathroom, and there is plenty of gathering space on the outdoor porches (one screened-in) and the firepit. The lodge adjacent to the property is closed--which to me, was a HUGE plus because that meant less people around. I really felt like we had that side of the property all to ourselves--and in this case, that privacy was important to us. Both Highlands and Cashiers are close by, so the conveniences of town are easily accessible. Ruthie is fabulous to work with--I feel like I made a new friend--and her home was perfect for the outdoor adventuring and family time that we were seeking. Be sure to read the red guest book and the Guide Book to Day Hikes both in the dining area of her home for good tips on where you can go to get out and enjoy Mother Nature's splendor. We will be back--and with so much to do in the area, I know we won't retrace any of the steps we've already taken. It really is a special area of North Caolina, and Pinetops made it all the more perfect. Choose Pinetops!
Perfect home to chill or as a pit stop between activities. Loved having a bathroom for each bedroom. Plenty of parking too. Will come back again. Ruthie is a great host.
Ruthie is a wonderful hostess and the house was just what we needed for our family. The house is well stocked including lots of games and toys for young kids which was great for us traveling with two young children and having to stay inside due to rain during our stay. It is clear this house is not simply a rental property, it is comfortable and filled with fun things to help you enjoy your stay if you are not able to make it outside and this was very important to us since we spent so much time indoors. The screened in porch is very large and allowed us to get outside without getting wet, very comfortable. When the weather allowed, we enjoyed the very nice, new fire pit, it was clean, safe, comfortable etc...very nice perk. The bedrooms were a good size, ample bathrooms, well stocked kitchen etc... We stayed here during Covid so we prepared and ate all of our meals in the house and had all the utensils and equipment we needed to eat well. There is a grill on the deck. We were not missing anything that we needed which was very nice. The house feels secluded in the woods and was very peaceful. Short drive to downtown Highlands. There is a gentle waterfall VERY close by "Pinky Waterfalls"? which was nice to drive to less than 3 minutes away, our young kids enjoyed getting in the stream and watching the waterfall, nice swimming hole so bring a bathing suit during the summer. Ruthie was a nice hostess who approaches her management of the property and guests with Southern Hospitality. When we return to Highlands, we will certainly contact Ruthie and hope to stay in this comfortable, well located house again. Thanks!
This home is beautiful, and very graciously appointed! Our family of 5 (grandparents, parents, and teenaged daughter) plus two small pups were very comfortable. Every room is decorated with a sense of whimsy, which we loved. The kitchen and bathrooms were generously stocked with all the comforts of home. We particularly enjoyed the large screened porch surrounded by gorgeous trees. The owner was very responsive before and during our stay. Due to an impending storm at home, we sadly had to cut our stay short; the owner couldn’t have been more kind in renegotiating our fees. If you want to stay in a lovingly appointed home, this is the place for you!
We had a wonderful stay in this special property!!! We were supplied with every need and ...then some! It was a charming atmosphere and exceeded our expectations! We loved the screen porch and you could tell that the owner was a talented gardener because the grounds were so pretty. The location was easy to get to and so convenient to Highlands and Cashiers. We really enjoyed our stay and escape from the Louisiana heat...and Hurricane Laura! Thank you, Ruthie!
