Description
Located 65 miles east of Sacramento, and 75 miles west of Tahoe, in the Northern Sierra Foothills, our spacious and comfortable Timber Lodge is now available for rental year round. We are situated on five treed acres just minutes from historic downtown Nevada City, and the spectacular Yuba River.
(Please note that the base price is for up to 6 arriving guests. Additional guests, up to 2, will be charged $20/nt ea. + tax.)
The main lodge has three bedrooms and two and a half baths. (For added space be sure to check out the other two cabins). The large loft has a double futon, single futon,and one twin bed as well as sitting area. The large master suite has full bath with double sinks, a king bed, twin day bed and regular twin bed. The second bedroom has a double bed and single bed, and the third bedroom has a queen size bed. These latter two rooms share a bath. There is also a trundle bed in the den, as well as a wood stove.
The large country kitchen has everything you need and plenty of room to fix a gourmet meal for a big crowd, or for several families to cook together. The large dining table, made from the mahogany lining of an old box car, can accommodate ten, with additional seating for three at the kitchen counter.
The large great room has a woodburning stove, ample couches and chairs. There are plenty of books to read and games to play. There are numerous eclectic art pieces throughout the lodge, and a baby grand piano in the great room. Guitar available for the experienced player.
The hot tub awaits off the wraparound covered back porch. There you can pass the time playing pingpong, or just ralax reading a book, or watching the occasional deer or turkey family, wander onto the property. You may even see one of the bear family wander by to discover who's been sleeping in their bed! Papa Bear's Lodge is available year round.

Holiday rates: $410/nt up to 6 guests, including the two weeks during and after Christmas, through New Year's Day. Holidays and some local event weekends have 3 night minimum stay. Christmas and Thanksgiving have 4 night min stay.
Cleaning fee: $200
Large groups renting all three cabins add $350 event fee. Sorry, no exceptions.

Fabulous three bears property!
We rented all three cabins on this property for our family to stay over a long weekend when my son got married nearby. The houses are comfortable, well stocked, plenty of dishes, games, furniture, etc., for a large group. We all found the web site/app a little difficult to navigate. I would recommend putting all of the check out instructions in one spot under check out. The check out instructions seem to be scattered throughout the information & I hope we didn't forget anything!

Great Family Vacation - even keeps the kids of their phones!
First and foremost we had a GREAT time. The owners were super nice and helpful when we couldn't get the tv to work (in our family you have to have football on Thanksgiving.) There were really only 2 negatives - 1 there is no cell service at this location - but there is wifi - so does that even really count as a negative? The second negative is that there were a few cockroaches found (and killed) during our stay - but we are in the woods - bugs are going to happen. Now that the negatives are out of the way let me leave you with the positives of this place - first of all it is massive - open floor plan PLENTY of beds and rooms to go around and a GREAT kitchen stocked with almost everything we needed! Great back yard where we played catch in preparation for softball tryouts and let the dos run back and fourth. Close to town so if you happen to forget a toothbrush or in our case vanilla it is easy to get the essentials needed. We had quality family time here - cooking - eating - laughing - playing games - cuddled with fur children - and had some get adventures and memories to last a lifetime. We could not be happier with how easy this was and left the Papa Bear Cabin feeling very blessed. We would recommend this to anyone. PS - this location has 3 cabins - Papa Bear (attached to the garage of Papa bear) and Mama bear cabin up the hill of the driveway... so it would be PERFECT for a large family were older parents want to go to bed early (Baby bear) and a younger family (Mama Bear) needed a quiet place to put children down for naps while the majority of the family gathering is in Papa Bear.

Super Cozy, great place for friends and family.
The cabin is outfitted with all sorts of quirky essentials that makes it a unique experience away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is located to some great little hiking trails and the good ole Yuba River is 4 miles down the road! Wonderful layout, and plenty of space!

Best "little" get away
We stayed in Papa Bears cabin over the Christmas holiday due to a military move and I have to say it ended up being one of the best Christmas experiences we have ever had! And the cabin was HUGE for our small family, we were thinking it could fit my husbands entire side of his family in it with no problem! At least 4 families and then some. The cabin has an open concept to it with different areas for sitting which we found perfect based on the mood. The TV couches are super comfy! The kitchen contained everything we needed for our stay and then some. The uniqueness of the area when we went for our "walks", and all the many details around the house made this feel a lot more of a home. The hot tub was the PERFECT bonus! Overall, we had an amazing experience and will totally be checking this place out again in the future for our family trips. Thank you.

The perfect social distancing vacation
We had a great time celebrating a long Father's day weekend here. The cabin was absolutely perfect. The nearby lakes were still closed to non locals, but were close to the Yuba river and went to 2 different swimming holes which were great. The owners were very responsive to messages, the house was as good in person as it looks in the pictures. So much space. It was only 4 of us this time, but in the future would definitely come back with a larger group when it's safe to travel with groups again! We loved our stay!

beautiful log cabin lodge, great kitchen, amazing living room with a piano, full covered porch, beautiful lawn surrounded by tall trees. and short drives to swimming holes on the best swimming river around.

Nice getaway
We had a great time at the Papa Bear cabin. We appreciated the level of cleaning they are doing during this pandemic. The owners, Rene and Drue, were great at answering our questions about the cabin and the area. The cabin is spacious, which we appreciated since we've been together at home this summer. It was nice to spread-out. The rooms were very nice. Check the comfort level of the mattress before you claim your room! The king mattress in the master bedroom was very firm but our daughter loved the comfortable queen mattress in the bedroom next to the master bedroom. The big table was great for eating meals and playing games. We loved the porch area for relaxing in the mornings and evenings. Deer and squirrels would visit occasionally.
