Cosy House on the Magical Island of Armona

Description

Casa Flamingo has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. The bright, airy house consists of 3 bedrooms, 1 shower room, a brick built BBQ & a central living and kitchen area. Outside there is a sofa and & table & chairs. There is also a large roof terrace with another dining area, sofa & armchairs and sun loungers. Just a short stroll from child friendly beaches including a tidal lake. Shop, restaurant and playground 2 mins walk!

Unfortunately I am unable to accept any pets!

Other things to note

Armona is a little island paradise in the midst of the Rio Formosa National Park. No cars, no ATMs and not a lot of people - but loads of sunshine and beautiful accessible beaches alongside the sea and lagoons - and the ultimate peace and tranquillity. There are of course shops for food, drink and essential groceries and some wonderful restaurants and bars on the island some of them open all year round but if you want a bit more night life, this is not the place for you! You can however hop onto a ferry to Olhao which is a lively little town full of bars and restaurants and return to Armona later on by taxi boat!

If you like walking, it takes around 2 - 2.5hrs to walk to the other end of the island to Fusetta Beach where there are sun loungers & bars. In summer, you can take a little boat to the village of Fusetta & eat fresh fish from one of their sea front restaurants & then return to Olhão by train & then take the ferry back to Armona.

We (family of 5) had a very nice week on Armona in Isabel's house. The quiet end location right at the lagoon with sunset view is great! The beaches are also very easily accessible - via the main road or through the dunes. The house has everything you need. The kitchen is very well equipped and the bedrooms with a lot of love for detail and cozy for many pillows😊!

We had the most amazing week in this house, and on the island. The house was perfectly equipped, the beds were very comfy, and the communal space ideal for a family of four. Our favourite breakfast spot was the roof terrace, with panoramic views of the island and offered privacy for days when you didn't fancy walking 2 minutes to the beach 😊 We will definitely come back.

If you're looking for an antidote to modern life;

If you're looking for an antidote to modern life; somewhere you can slow down and relax, then Armona is the place for you and Isabel's house provides ideal accommodation. It's clean and comfortable and cool (when we were there in mid-May temperatures were in the high 20s and the house stayed cool). Isabel clearly uses the house herself and it is furnished and equipped for living in - I doubt if there is anything you might need that you won't find. And a variety of comfortable outdoor spaces means that you can always find somewhere to sit in sun or shade. It's in a great location, minutes walk from some of the best beaches you'll find anywhere, and ten to fifteen minutes walk to the ferry across to Olhao on the mainland, where there is a fantastic market and great seafood restaurants.

Everything was brilliant, from Ze meeting us, the location is fantastic but his guidance to find it at night was very useful as we arrived late at night. Such a lovely house, Isabel had thought of everything. Incredibly helpful communications throughout. The house was very well equipped and clean. Very comfortable. It is in a very special location, away from the more built up street with nothing between you and the water. If anything the description undersells how wonderful this place is. We feel very fortunate to have stayed there!

This is our 2nd visit and it's such a gem of an island and perfect little house to stay in, thank you Isabel! Great for cooking and kids — there's a big outdoor sandy space, hammock and outdoor toys in Isabel's house, plus a good playground on the island. No cars and walkable to 2 beaches. Amazing outdoor market on Olhão where we go to get really affordable, fresh fish and groceries. If you like eating out in the evening, like us, pick your time to visit as there was only 1 restaurant open when we visited this April (open during day though), 2-3 when we visited in October. But in return you get a lot of beach to yourself and peace + quiet!

Our stay was wonderful at Isabel’s house. The house is very cosy, near the beach and not too far from the nearest supermarket. A super calm location and with a great view to ria da Formosa, it is even better than the photographs. We loved it and would love to repeat our stay next year

Casa Flamingo is a beautiful, homely listing. A real original, where you truly feel like you are staying at someone's house. Armona really surprised us. As did the quiet of the house. It's nicely placed on the outskirts of the island. With wonderful views back to the mainland but also across to the Atlantic side of the island across the lagoon. We came late in the season, so ate out a few times but also cooked in the house a few nights as only Armona 3 was open. The house had everything needed to cook comfortably. The only feedback I would give to Isabel is perhaps to have a very brief written guide on the property. With a little map or something. It just helps when you first arrive to get an idea of the island, particularly as you will be walking it!
